Man United reject Inter’s offer 30-year-old star plus cash for Romelu Lukaku

Manchester United have turned down an offer of Ivan Perisic plus cash from Inter Milan for their striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian forward is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer and Inter looks his most likely destination, but the two sides continue to haggle over the fee.

United are reportedly happy to let the 26-year-old go for the same price they paid Everton for him two years ago – £75m – and will hold out for that amount.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter have tried to drive the price down by offering Perisic as part of the deal, but United are more keen on the cash than the 30-year-old Croatian.

New Inter manager, Antonio Conte, is extremely keen to bring Lukaku to the San Siro, so negotiations are set to continue, with the forward also in favour of the switch.

Conte has been coy about the new signings he plans to make in his new role, although plenty are expected this summer. ‘I think now it’s very difficult to talk about this,’ Conte told the BBC.

‘For sure, we have a plan to try to improve the team. But it will be very important for the players, it will be very important to have a great will and great ambition, me, the players and the club, to try to reduce this gap.

‘I repeat in this moment there is a sporting director to talk about this and do this question about the transfer market, about the players.’
