Man Utd £70,000 a-week star linked with summer move to Premier League rivals

Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly considering a £25m move for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.

The 30-year-old star is currently on loan at Serie A giants AS Roma and has impressed for the Italian side during the 2019-20 season, playing 28 games in all competitions.

The Serie A heavyweights are keen to secure the services of the defender on a permanent contract this summer, however, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, they will struggle to secure the services of Chris Smalling without Champions League football.

The same report suggests that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the developments surrounding the Englishman and could be prepared to meet the Red Devils £25m valuation during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have also been mentioned as potential suitors for Chris Smalling, who has joined the 20-times English champions from Fulham in the summer of 2010.

The defender current deal at Old Trafford will run until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Man Utd could also agree another deal as the Gunners are keen on to secure the services of Tahit Chong who is expected to leave the club after the end of the current campaign in order to play regular first-team football somewhere else.
