Arsenal planning to make late swoop for Ander Herrera to join them from direct Premier League rivals Manchester United at the end of the current campaign.
The Spanish versatile midfielder is bracing himself for a departure from Old Trafford this summer as talks over extending his current deal, which is due to expire back in July, have stalled.
Spaniard is believed to have been offered a three-year contract on £145,000 per week to join Ligue 1 defending champions PSG who are considered the frontrunners to secure his services once he becomes a free agent.
The Gunners have also been regularly rumoured, though, and French media outlet L’Equipe reports that the Red Devils top-flight rivals will make a late swoop to try to persuade the ex-Athletic Bilbao midfielder to join them instead.
An eleventh-hour offer is believed to have been put together to keep Spanish midfielder in the English top-tier, which Arsenal hope will be enough to convince him to make move to the Emirates Stadium.
The report also claimed that the Red Devils have not ruled out Herrera to remain at Old Trafford for another season or two, despite his recent comments in the press conference.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly handed a huge boost in their pursuit to secure services of Paris Saint-Germain 21-year-old star Christopher Nkunku.
The North London club had looked to secure a loan move for French midfielder during the January transfer window, however, PSG opted to keep the midfielder at Parc des Princes.
Nkunku has since established himself as a key player of PSG this season attempting to extend the player’s deal past the end of next campaign.
