Man Utd cooled interest in signing of Juventus forward

Premier League giants Manchester United have reportedly ended their interest in securing the services of Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

The Croatian forward had reportedly been the Red Devils transfer target during the summer, however, remained at Serie A champions Juventus, where he is yet to make an appearance this campaign.

According to The Athletic, the 20-times English champions have now dropped their interest in the Croatian attacker, with other targets including Erling Braut Haaland now being considered.

The report claimed that the Red Devils have concerns over Mandzukic’s fitness levels and they are looking for a player who would be ready for action immediately.

United have sold Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku to Serie A giants Inter Milan during the summer, following the injuries to Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have seen them short on striking options.

Mandzukic has managed to found back of the net 44 times in four-and-a-half campaigns at Serie A champions and also scored for Croatia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup final.

Meanwhile, Juventus another star Emre Can has been tipped to make move to Old Trafford after being frustrated with the lack of first-team minutes at Allianz Stadium and the Red Devils ready to offer him an escape route when the transfer window will be re-opened in January.
