Krylia Sovetov attacker Aleksandr Sobolev has reportedly emerged as a shock transfer target for Man Utd.
The 20-times English champions did not sign a new forward during the summer transfer window despite allowing attacking pair Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku and to leave the club, with the pair both making the switch to Inter Milan.
Anthony Martial remains on the sidelines due to injury, leaving 17-year-old Mason Greenwood as the only option after Marcus Rashford.
The Red Devils head-coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently admitted that his team would be looking to secure services of a new forward when the January transfer window re-opens.
The likes of Ligue 1 giants Lyon’s forward Moussa Dembele and Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic have been rumoured with moves to the Red Devils; however, according to The Sun, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are also keeping tabs on Sobolev.
The report suggested that scouts from the 20-time English champions have kept close tabs on the Russia Under-21 international during the 2019-20 season, where he has managed to found back of the net 8 times in the Russian Premier League.
Meanwhile, it is alleged that his Samara-based team would be open to offers of above £15m, making him an affordable option for the Red Devils at the start of 2020.
Sobolev, who stands at 6ft 5in, has 19 goals in 38 appearances for his current teams since arriving from Tom Tomsk.
