Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen has held talks with Man Utd over a potential transfer during the January transfer window.
The Denmark international’s current deal with Tottenham Hotspur expires at the end of the current campaign, which means he could depart on a free transfer next summer.
However, Mauricio Pochettiono’s side could use this winter as their final chance to recoup a transfer fee for the 27-year-old playmaker.
The Los Blancos also registered their interest in securing the services of Christian Eriksen earlier this year, however, the former Ajax playmaker was not their first-choice target to strengthen their midfield.
According to El Desmarque, Danish playmaker is now tired of waiting for the Los Blancos and is exploring alternative options.
One of which is a move to the Red Devils and the report suggest that Spurs’ Premier League rivals have held talks with Danish midfielder last month.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be keen on securing the services of Eriksen as he views the 27-year-old as perfect midfield partner for Paul Pogba.
The report further suggested that the Red Devils will offer £42 million to Tottenham Hotspur for their key player.
Earlier this week, Spurs head-coach Mauricio Pochettino defended Eriksen after the midfielder was criticsied fro his performance.
‘I don’t think the performance of Christian is any different than when we signed him five-and-a-half years ago,’ said Pochettino.
‘His commitment is the same, sometimes we maybe look too much at whether a player has a one-year contract or a four-year contract.
‘In the end it is about commitment, maybe players in the last year of their contract show more commitment than a player with four more years on their contract.
‘But when you see Christian and you compare him to different seasons, he is the same player.’
