Man Utd full-back linked with shock move to Portuguese giants

Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon have reportedly asked Man United to keep paying some of Marcos Rojo’s current wages if the full-back is to be included in any deal involving Bruno Fernandes.

The Red Devils are allegedly pushing to finalise the signing of Fernandes before the end of the January transfer window, potentially this week ahead of Sunday’s trip to the Merseyside Reds.

However, as it stands, the terms of any transfer are unclear, with Portuguese giants believed to prefer a straight-cash bid rather than any players being involved in a swap deal.

Nevertheless, Rojo stays an option for Sporting Lisbon, although O Jogo reports that the Portuguese heavyweights are against paying the Argentina international’s income in its entirely.

The report claims that Sporting are only open to securing a reunion with their ex-player if the Red Devils agree to subsidise his wages.

That would likely last for the remainder of Rojo’s current deal, which does not end until the end of next campaign.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have reportedly approached Birmingham City with an offer worth £12.5m for star playmaker Jude Bellingham.

The Englishman will not turn 17 until June, however, has made 23 Championship appearances for the West London club during the 2019-20 season, founding back of the net three times in the process.

A number of teams are believed to be interested in securing the services of midfielder, with the Red Devils allegedly sending their assistant head-coach Mike Phelan to keep close tabs on him in action this campaign.
