Man Utd handed massive blow in their pursuit of French defensive rock

RB Leipzig head-coach Julian Nagelsmann has insisted that Dayot Upamecano will not be sold this summer transfer window despite interest from hosts of European teams.

Despite having recently extended his deal at the German outfits, Upamecano continues to be rumoured with a move to Arsenal and Man Utd.

Although Nagelsmann has acknowledged that a transfer could occur in 2021, German boss has claimed that the France international will remain at the club for the next season.

Speaking to ESPN, Nagelsmann said: “He will be here for the season. I’m sure about that. As for the future, I’m not sure as he is very talented.

“Lots of clubs will want to buy – next season it could be real that he leaves the club. But this season he will stay.”

The 21-year-old has played 113 games in all competitions since he has made a move to RB Leipzig back in January 2017.

Arsenal have managed to secure services of Gabriel and William Saliba in order to strengthen their defensive end, however, they are still in the hunt for a new defender.

Man Utd meanwhile having a quite transfer window as they have only secure services of Donny van de Beek.
