Man Utd on the verge to agree deal for international No.3 defender

Manchester United have allegedly agreed on a deal with Serie A giants Napoli for Senegalese international defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

After impressing during his time in Serie A, Koulibaly has been strongly linked with a switch to the 20-times English champions for a number of transfer windows.

Despite previously maintaining a strong stance regarding his future, Italian giants are believed to be open to offers for the defender during 2020.

According to Italian journalist Fabio Santini, the Red Devils have informed the Italian heavyweights that they are willing to pay around £64m for African defender.

Speaking to Il Processo, Santini said: “Napoli will sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United for a figure of around €70m-75m. It seems all done.

“Naturally, such a deal will be closed only in June and certainly not in January in the winter transfer window.”

Senegalese international defender cost Napoli a fee of £8m when departing from Genk before the beginning of the 2014-15 season.

Man Utd have already splashed £80m on Harry Maguire earlier last summer and despite their struggles to keep a clean sheet during the 2019/2020 season English centre-back has been impressive for Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s side and signing another quality defender like Koulibaly could improve them defensively.
