Leicester City believe that Harry Maguire’s move away from the club is inevitable as they are confident Manchester United will meet their £85m price tag for the centre back, according to the Mirror.
The 26-year-old has been linked with both Manchester United and Manchester City this summer, however, the latter have pulled out of the race as they were unprepared to pay more than £60m.
That means that United are in the clear to sign Maguire uncontested with the England international keen to make the switch to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side next season.
United reportedly offered Leicester £70m plus Marcos Rojo for Maguire last week but the Foxes are only interested in a straight sale and do not want any of United’s fringe players in return.
Although Maguire’s dream move would have been to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, he has told Leicester that he would be open to moving to Manchester United instead.
Maguire has made 76 appearances for Leicester since joining from Hull City in a £17m deal in 2017 and has established himself as an England regular during his time with the club.
Solskjaer is looking to build a new-look squad based around a British core of talent and has already signed England U21 right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Wales international Daniel James.
