The Red Devils are prepared to back Solskjaer in the summer, as the Norwegian targets a massive overhaul of his squad. Solskjaer wants as many as five signings and according to ESPN, the coach is keen for his major deals to be done by 1 July.
United’s first-team checks in for pre-season at Carrington on that date and Solskjaer wants to chance to bed in his new players from the start.
The transfer window closes on 8 August, just a day before the new Premier League season is due to kick off. Key to Solskjaer’s plans for the summer is to bring in a forward, defender and central midfielder.
United are reportedly prepared to spend over £200million this summer, with the transfer window officially open on Thursday. With Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera having already left the club, there is expected to be significant exodus at Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez are being linked with moves away, while there are doubts over the futures of Juan Mata, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian.
One player who will not be leaving is Anthony Martial. United’s owners, the Glazer family, are set to overrule Solskjaer’s decision to offload the Frenchman. Joel Glazer is a massive fan of Martial and reportedly sees the attacker as United’s version of Brazil legend Pele.
