Manchester United could reportedly attempt to secure the services of Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Marcos Llorente on loan.
Injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba have left the 20-times English champions short of options in the middle of the park.
The Red Devils continue to be rumoured with a move for Sporting Lisbon skipper Bruno Fernandes and reports earlier this week suggested that deal will be done within one week, however, according to the Manchester Evening News, the team also want to secure the services of a central midfielder during the January window.
The report suggested that the English club’s scouts have identified Llorente as the ideal signing having struggled for regular first-team football at Atletico Madrid and his former club Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old, who joined Diego Simeone’s side on a five-year contract ahead of the 2019-20 season, has only started three times in the Spanish top-tier during the current campaign.
Nemanja Matic and Fred are currently the Red Devils only fit senior central midfielders and the former Chelsea star has been already linked with a January switch to Serie A giants AC Milan and Brazilian anchorman struggles to find his best form for the Red Devils and singing new midfielder could be priority this month.
