The 46-year-old Premier League boss is favourite to be in charge at Man United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken the position of interim manager at Manchester United, but it is Mauricio Pochettino who is favourite to be in charge at the start of the next Premier League season.

Solskjaer has taken temporary charge until the end of the season, although the bookmakers believe him to be in contention for the permanent role as he is only behind Pochettino in that market.

However, it is the current Tottenham boss who leads the way, with Betfair offering just 6/4 that he will be the manager at Old Trafford on the first day of next season.

The Norwegian is not far behind at 5/2 after it emerged that the club were open to giving Solskjaer the full time job if he impresses over the remainder of the season.

Pochettino has some support among influential voices with Sir Alex Ferguson, Gary Neville and even Jamie Carragher backing him for the job.

However, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has encouraged his north London rival to stay at Spurs, saying: ‘He’s coaching a very big team with very big players. They are in the Champions League and are also in a better position in the Premier League than Manchester United.’

Other names in the frame include Juventus boss Max Allegri (6/1), former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane (7/1) and ex-United player Laurent Blanc (14/1). Zidane and Blanc had previously been considered favourites, but their prices have drifted since Solskjaer’s arrival.
